'Machiko Noguchi' by MarkNewman 'Machiko Noguchi' by MarkNewman
Here is a sculpt I did for Sideshow Collectibles quite awhile ago that was just revealed on their website.
1/4 scale. Super sculpey.

Here is a link to the finished painted figure for sale if interested.

I dig this design but Sideshow credits three on the design, three on the sculpt and three on the paint- how does that break down?

Thanks for asking, I was wondering the exact same thing! After seeing Mark's work here, I really wonder about who's getting credit for what at Sideshow.

in this case, as far as the design, I received a drawing of the design, mostly for the pose. They then said you can add your touch to the sculpt so I redesigned the armor to be more detailed, with an art nouveau theme. Curvy line and pattens.
The sculpt, I did all you see here. I guess they tweaked some stuff in house after I delivered the piece. That happens often either in repair of possible broken piece during shipment or changing some aspect they thought needed improvement.
I'm not sure what was actually sculpted by the others mentioned but i sculpted probably 99% of the piece.

Yo!

Your work is amazing!
The way that you make the hair is the most impressive...
When I studied sculpture, I had a big dificult to do it... and was a simple hair.. I realy will not know how to do a hair like this..
Congrats!

I don't know how you get so much detail into this sculpture and I don't care to know. It would probably blow my mind even more than this already has. This is So Cool!!

I have not seen a sculpt of yours that I did not like. I look at your work then look at mine and wonder how exactly I could even begin to achieve half of what you do. I think the answer there is to study the details.

For curiosity's sake, what materials do you sculpt in? Is it a clay or a wax?

If I may ask... what do you do for the armature to make her stand freely?

I believe she is from a series of Predator books. There are three books in total. She actually lives with them for a few years and it gets into predator lore. It's a very interesting read. :)

Does anyone know what a breastplate is? because that's not it. In it's proper sense, it's meant to COVER the WHOLE torso. not leave a GAP where the HEART is. An arrow could kill her instantly. You might argue that she can parry an arrow. well try that against a couple thousand arrow volley. You might also argue that she could use magic. But mana runs out. and arrows keep coming. Not to mention that the important blood vessels in the thighs are also very vulnerable. And she could easily be sliced in half... Need I say more? (My rant is over. [I've ranted on this before, this is just the first time on Deviant Art.]) The sculpture looks real though, so thumbs up for that.
