Thanks Sean,
I'm self taught. I went to Art school as an Illustration major.
I liked working in 3D a lot more. I've been sculpting for profesionally for about 22 years now.
Mark~ Okay now time for a super sappy story, I have only been sculpting for about a year now, when i was first looking at sculpts I happened across your page at the sculptors corner, and I can honestly say you are the biggest inspiration i have. This statue in perticular caught me because of the emotion and the dynamics in it, my friends laugh because they have heard me say more than once If i could sculpt 1/2 as well I would be happy. anyway i'm so glad your here on da.

ShapeStrong- I appreciate your comments sappy or not... Not. It's always great to hear that I can be of some inspiration to someone else.
Your work is Very Good! for only about a year at it. All it takes is passion.
You seem to have plenty!! Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for the encouraging words, If you don't mind me asking. Is this done in wax? I'm trying to get up some scratch to get in to the wax world, altho i hear castiline took a diver recently, i'm always curiouse to find out what materials other sculptors work with.

Actually I use Super Sculpey. This Kratos sculpt is all SS. Now I like using SS
mixed with the Firm Gray SS.
I don't use wax very much. Never got into it too much. Mostly for adding detail.
WOW thats amazing, I had trouble with straight ss getting sticky or cracking when I baked it. I started mixing it with Primo but had a hard time replicating the color every time. (I don't know why.... but for some reason altho i mixed the same it always came out various shades of gray) I have heard the firm mix is a great combination I plan on trying it soon. I have one more question if you would. (I really appreciate it) How did you get the blades so thin and flat using just ss? or is there a brace under it?

Your gallery is great!

The Gray firm is the way to go these days. It's nice and opaque and resists cracking a bit more than just SS.
This Kratos sculpture was fairly large. If he stood up right he would be about 21" tall. They had him panagraphed down for the production run.
The Blades on Kratos are fairly beefy by design. The weren't too thin to sculpt.
I actually rolled out a small sheet of Sculpey about 1/4" thick. I baked it and cut out the shape of the blades with a scrol saw. I then shaped the 'chiseled' look of the blades with a dremel tool. So they were carved.

I checked out more of your work and I do recognize it from the Clubhouse.
You've got a very cool style to your stuff.

I just received a notice that you bought a 3 month subscription here for me.
Thank you very much, that was very kind of you, very kind indeed. I don't know what to say. I'm still feeling this place out and getting to know it. I'll have to see what this place is all about. Thank You again and I'll be buzzing around here more often.

Mark.
Ah haaaa... see thats whats so great about sculptors on here. I learn SO much about things. I first big gift i got myself was a dremel*laugh*.
